President Ballard Rededicates the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

Following nearly two years of renovation, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple was rededicated today by President M. Russell Ballard, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. In addition to fully updating the interior of the temple, the exterior appearance was altered by enclosing the portico, enlarging the tower, and cladding the exterior in limestone. The temple reopens to patrons on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

Tours of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple Begin Saturday

Following 20 months of renovation, the beautiful Raleigh North Carolina Temple opens its doors to the public beginning this Saturday, September 21, and continuing through next Saturday, September 28, 2019, except for Sunday, September 22. The redesigned exterior improves the building's massing with a taller, more substantial tower, an enclosed portico, beige-colored limestone cladding, and new art glass windows.

Raleigh North Carolina Temple Run a Success

More than 600 participants joined the Raleigh Temple 5K Run on Labor Day, September 2, 2019, in celebration of the reopening of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple. "This event was a terrific way to keep the temple in our sights and symbolize our earthly journey back to the Lord. We love to see our members exercise faith in every footstep together as they bring their families to the House of the Lord," said Robert Joaquin Foster, second counselor in the Raleigh North Carolina South Stake presidency. The free public open house for the temple begins next Saturday, September 21, and continues through Saturday, September 28, with the exception of Sunday, September 22, 2019.

5K Run Celebrates the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

A Labor Day 5K run has been organized to celebrate next month's reopening of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple. The event is free and open to the public at any athletic level including runners, joggers, walkers, and stroller pushers. The event begins September 2, 2019, at 8:00 a.m. at Olive Chapel Elementary School at 1751 Olive Chapel Rd and ends at the temple and stake center complex located at 574 Bryan Dr in Apex.

Stained Glass Installed at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

The cream-colored stone exterior of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple has been accented by soothing blue and green swirls captured in the recently installed stained-glass windows. Asphalt has been installed for the driveway, and the landscaping for the park-like grounds is nearing completion.

Work is progressing in every area at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple. Recent highlights include the installation of wall sconces on the entrance exterior walls, aggregate being laid for the driveway and parking lot, and more plants and trees being added around the monument sign and in the garden areas.

Installing Entrance Doors at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

As installers fit beautiful wrought-iron doors in the entrance opening to the Raleigh North Carolina Temple, landscapers are transforming the grounds with the addition of new curbing, retaining walls, and numerous trees and shrubs. Guests are invited to tour the renovated temple the last full week of September 2019.

Raleigh North Carolina Temple to Be Rededicated

President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, will preside over the rededication of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple on Sunday, October 13, 2019. Prior to the rededication, the public is invited to tour the renovated building from September 21 through September 28, 2019, except for Sunday, September 22. The temple will be available for ordinance work beginning Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

Hard Landscaping at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

Concrete blocks have been set in place in front of the entrance to the Raleigh North Carolina Temple to create planter boxes that will flank the main walkway to the front doors. Crews continue to set forms, build gravel beds, and pour concrete for the walkways that will travel around the building. Numerous trees have been delivered to the construction site waiting to be planted.

Landscaping the Raleigh North Carolina Temple Grounds

With the exterior of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple completed, the focus has turned to landscaping the grounds and finishing the interior. Numerous trees and bushes are being planted while concrete walkways are poured and decorative fencing is installed. The temple closed just under 15 months ago, and renovation work has progressed at a steady pace.

Exterior Stone Cladding Completed for the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

With stone cladding now attached to the entrance vestibule, scaffolding has been removed from the exterior of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple. Black decorative fencing has arrived on site, which will be installed around the perimeter of the property, replacing the current construction barrier. Landscaping work is underway around the edges of the grounds.

Moroni Milestone Reached in Raleigh, North Carolina

The renovation of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple reached a major milestone at half past noon today when a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni was installed atop the tower. The temple stands in the Raleigh suburb of Apex at the corner of Bryan Dr and W Williams St next to the stake center for the Apex North Carolina Stake.

Monument Sign at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

The monument sign at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple has been finished in matching stone, bearing the names of the Church and the temple, followed by the address of the building. The Holiness to the Lord inscription stone has been installed over the entrance to the temple.

Stone Cladding Nearing Completion at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

The majority of scaffolding has been removed along the rear side of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple as exterior stone installers get closer to completing their work. The remaining areas to be clad are largely concentrated on the front side of the building. Visitors can clearly see the ornate detailing featured in the stone panels over the windows.

Work on cladding the reshaped tower of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple has been completed while stone continues to be attached to the exterior walls. Temporary glass has been installed in the window openings to enclose the structure and protect the interior renovation work that is underway.

Work on stone cladding the exterior walls of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple has progressed to the front side of the building and to the tower. Steel studs are on site as framers continue to build interior walls and hang drywall. Minor modifications to the floor plan will provide a better patron experience.

Stone Cladding Continues at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

Sturdy pieces of natural stone continue their way up the exterior walls of the Raleigh North Carolina. Along the rear side of the building, the stone has reached the roof line with special border pieces surrounding the window sections. Scaffolding surrounds the tower, which will also be clad in stone.

Looking through the stately pine trees surrounding the Raleigh North Carolina Temple site, construction observers can catch a glimpse of the progress being made on cladding the exterior of the temple. The window openings have been boarded up to enclose the structure as work begins to focus on the interior.

Having waterproofed the reshaped exterior of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple, crews have begun the process of cladding the building in stone. Although the temple is not yet enclosed, some sheets of drywall have been hung on the interior.

Entrance Canopy Removed from the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

New photographs of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple renovation show the removal of the entrance canopy and some of the marble cladding as crews work to improve the temple and modernize its auxiliary systems. The grounds continue to be cleared of most vegetation.

Spire Removed from Raleigh North Carolina Temple

Renovation of the Raleigh North Carolina Temple continues at a steady clip with the recent removal of the spire from the top of the building. Removal of the marble cladding has also begun. The temple is one of several in the South undergoing similar interior and exterior upgrades.

Construction Underway at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple

Since its closure last week, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple has already entered full construction mode with the erection of a temporary fence and the additions of trailers and heavy equipment. Some trees are being fenced off for protection while other vegetation is being cleared.

Today is the last day of operation at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple before it closes for a major interior and exterior renovation project. Following the renovation, a public open house and rededication ceremony will be held.
