Modern Warfare 2 Basilisk: Best Attachments & Loadout (2024)

The weapons of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, both primary and secondary weapons, have their own unique niches and scenarios they are best suited for. Most of the secondary pistols in the game are designed to work best in close-quarters combat and suffer greatly when used over distance.

The Basilisk revolver is the exception to this and offers players a powerful hand cannon to use in online multiplayer. Unlocked at player level 39, this powerful secondary weapon can rival the designated marksman rifles in the primary weapon category with the right attachments and loadout.

The Basilisk, when used as a controlled and accurate marksman rifle in a player's pocket, can easily deliver 1-2 shot kills at most ranges across Modern Warfare 2's array of multiplayer maps. These attachments reflect this usage and improve the Basilisk's accuracy, reload speed, and damage output over range against enemy players. The FTAC CARNIVORA 7" barrel attachment's decreased recoil and increased bullet velocity pairs with the .500 OVERPRESSURED +P ammo type to deal significant flinch damage to enemy players, throwing off their accuracy and shaking their screen to further disorient them.

The BRYSON WD-85 GRIP adds further recoil control alongside the BRYSON HTA trigger attachment increasing the fire rate of the Basilisk, which has a minor delay and slow fire time as a revolver. With only 5 rounds in its cylinder, the Basilisk will have players reloading quite frequently. The S40 RAPID LOADER helps mitigate this shortcoming, offering a faster reload time at the cost of a reduced total ammo reserve overall.

Having the best Perk Package for a player's custom class in multiplayer is just as important as the weapon and attachments they choose to use. For the Basilisk, players will mostly be going up against enemies using primary weapons, like the Bas-P submachine gun or hard-hitting assault rifles like the TAQ-56. As a result, players will want to mitigate their presence on enemy radars and mini-maps while maximizing protection. The Bomb Squad perk offers added defense against enemy explosives, while the Scavenger perk lets players replenish ammo off of dead enemyplayers, which is all but essential with the Basilisk's small ammo reserves.

The Bonus Perk, earned near the game's halfway point, Cold-Blooded, has a number of bonus perks within itself. It renders players invisible to AI-controlled targeting, makes players invisible to thermal scopes, it does not set off enemy players High Alert perk warning, and keeps players undetected byTactical Cameras, Recon Drones and Spotter Scopes. The Ultimate Perk, usually earned around a multiplayer match's 2/3 mark, Ghost, further aids the cloaking abilities offered by Cold-Blooded. Ghost renders players invisible to enemy UAVs, Heartbeat Sensors and Portable Radars, further reducing the means enemy players have of locating a player during an online match.

Best Primary Weapon For The Basilisk

Modern Warfare 2 Basilisk: Best Attachments & Loadout (3)

Since players will be using the Basilisk revolver as their primary weapon, the actual primary weapon slot is left open for players to fill depending on their play style preference. Players may want to consider using one of Modern Warfare 2's various shotguns as their primary weapon, given the Basilisk's ability to function well at medium and long range engagements. The shotguns in multiplayer can be heavily customized to suit any individual player's needs, including extended magazines, explosive ammo and collapsed stocks for increased movement speed.

With a shotgun equipped players can quickly swap to and engage enemy players that are too close to risk missing a kill shot with the Basilisk revolver's slower fire speed and limited capacity. Alternatively, players may want to use a Riot Shield as their primary weapon, trading the added firepower of a second weapon in exchange for added protection from enemy weapons fire. Even when the Riot Shield is held on a player's back and not in active use, it will protect players from any enemy fire that impacts it while the player has it equipped.
