My friend Danee Samonte, a.k.a. Steve Oa Neal, introduced and brought me into practicing my favorite highlight of a good life a" traveling. And with it goes shopping, eating and collecting photographs souvenirs and memories syempre.

Several years ago, we went to the then Crown Colony of Hongkong about Christmas time. I had my very first taste of that hairy but very tasty and delicious crustaceans they call Shanghai crabs. And from that day on, up to this very moment, it has remained one of my two favorites in the "onea"ona"one with steamed rice only" department. My other choice, of course with steam rice only, is friend pigeons squeezed with lemon. Yummy! Ginugutom kayo ano? Obviously, they are also my winners hands down in the "use your hands only when downing them" departmenta¦ kamayan baga.

As for the information of those who are salivating right now because of this moutha"watering topic, I eat and savor my pigeons in only one place and thatas on Lock Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon called Macau Restaurant. I think there are three more branches at the Hongkong side.

When in season, the fresh water hairy crabs, which is Shanghaias favorite autumn activity, can be found nearly everywhere in Hongkong. It is always a pleasure eating them a" the crabmeat, legs and roe. Pero matrabaho at mabusisi. The steamed crabs are to be taken apart by each customeras hands, an art to perfect.

But last October 30, we were able to enjoy fresh water crab without all the hard work. The place is called Ye Shanghai located at the sixth floor of The Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel in Kowloon. Donat worry, the "thrill" is still there. The unwanted parts are the ones skillfully removed by the trained waiters. O, lipad na! Hanggang December lang yata ito. Baka maubos na.

Whenever I visit Hongkong (actually, this is one place that you can rightly say "pay a visit" because every visit, pay kang bata ka!), believe it or not, I could cover ninetya"five percent or all of my shopping in just one day! Not spree but sprint. And if we arrive at around noontime in this paper bag paradise, then my power shopping is finished on my very first day. And ordinarily, I can do it in four or five hours only. Amazing? Kung gaano ako kabilis gumamit ng toilet, ganun din ako kabilis kumaina¦ at ganun din ako kabilis kumaina¦ at ganun din ako kabilis maga"shopping. Pwede na ngang umuwi the next day eha¦ even that same night. Kasi, I know already what to buy and where to get them. Ganon kaa"simple. The rest of the stay is for eating and sleeping. Just call me The Flash or the Superman of Shopping.

In our last vacation last October 30, a Sunday, I finished my shopping by day one. Our return was in the early morning of November 2 yet, a Wednesday. Therefore, I had two solid days of doing nothing. I became a mere shadow to my wife Eileen as she moved around Asiaas largest shopping mall a" Ocean Terminalas Harbour City and the streets around. Si Superman biglang naging sidekick!

But being a "tail" makes you learn so many things a" patience is one of them of course. Likewise, it makes you notice and at times forces you to read signs from the biggest to the smallest. And because I was not shopping for myself anymore, I followed my wife to shops and departments mainly for women and then I saw a sign on a display carousel for ladies. The cut and design of the merchandise on display looked new and different to me. The sign said: No VPL. I got curious so I moved closer to read. Ayuna¦ No Visible Panty Lines pala. And while investigating the new invention, ako naman ang naging VPL a" Very Puzzled na Lalaki. I was asking myself ano ba talaga ang gusto ng mga babae? Ang malaman ng tao na wala silang panties? At this point, Eileen emerged and picked four pieces of the undergarment in question. Quiet na lang ako.

Well, naalala ko lang bigla a" I was told that during the early days of Pilita Corrales, Carmen Soriano and the like, whenever they wore those tight and bodya"hugging gowns, they didnat wear underwear. Their titles pala should be The Airy Diva or No Cover Girl. Ayun, kaya pala ang popular na song noon ay "I Who Have Nothing."

Tonight, if you have nothing to do, watch "Balakubak" in GMAa"7as "Nuts Entertainment." Asiaas Songbird Regine Velasquez will be in the hot seat. And according to her, sometimes apag naka tight and bodya"hugging gown siya, "I Who Have Nothing" din siya. and she boasts na dalawa lang ang bra niya!
